LEH, Jan 19: During the harsh winter in Ladakh, Ice Hockey is the popular winter sport in Ladakh for amusement and even physically challenged people plays Ice Hockey on Sledge.
People’s Action Group for Inclusion and Rights (PAGIR) in collaboration with Health Inc supported by District Health department, Zago Thundrel Tsogspa and ITBP Ice Hockey team have been providing sledge Ice Hockey coaching for the differently abled person so as to make them inclusive in the society.
Health Inc provided Sledge of different size and shapes as per requirement of physically challenged people while volunteers of ITBP and Zago Thundrel Tsogspa assist the PAGIR sledge Ice Hockey players.
Health department Leh physiotherapist Dolma Lhamo assisting the differently abled-person constantly monitors the players during the coaching camp.
To encourage the differently abled people, the Indo Canadian Ice Hockey Team played an exhibition match with the PAGIR players. The visitor Canadian team Ice Hockey players highly impressed with differently-abled people playing Ice Hockey game on sledge.
PAGIR is a local non-profitable society working for the welfare for physically challenged people in Ladakh. In their endeavor to make inclusive society PAGIR have been providing various platform to differently abled person to take active participation in all sports including Archery and Ice Hockey.
PAGIR President Tsewang Dorjay while expressing his delight to be part of the popular Ice hockey game in Ladakh said that differently abled-people got chance to play Ice Hockey on sledge of different size provided by Health Inc society based in Canada.
