JAMMU, Mar 26: Physical Education Department beat Business School and Law School trounced MCA Department and advanced to the quarter final round of the Badminton event, organized during the ongoing Inter-Department Tournament (Men) by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at gymnasium hall here today.
In the first match, Physical Education Department beat Business School by straight 2-0 sets. In first singles, Taranpal Singh thrashed Aditya Paul Sharma of Business School by 2-0, 21-0 and 21-17, whereas in the second single, Amit Sharma of Physical Education Department beat Rohit Gupta by 21-7 and 21-9 points.
In the second match, Law School outplayed MCA Department by 2-0 sets. In first single, Chander Dev Manhas of Law School beat Ashish Manotra by 21-6 and 21-5, whereas, in second singles, Anurag Singh routed Balpreet Singh of MCA Department by 21-14 and 21-17 points and registered win.
Meanwhile, Law Department, Chemistry Department, Physics and Electronics Department got walkover.
In Table Tennis, Physical Education Department routed Law School by 2-1 sets. In first single, Sandeep Khadotra of Physical Education Department thrashed Anurag Singh by 11-4 and 11-4, whereas, in second single, Amit Sharma lost to Abhinav Kumar Sharma of Law School by 5-11 and 3-11. In the doubles and decider game, Sandeep and Amit routed Abhinav and Anurag of Law School by 11-6 and 11-6.
In second match, Library Science beat MCA Department by straight 2-0 sets. In first singles, Mohd Hassan of Library Science thrashed Vishal Sharma by 11-4 and 11-5, whereas, in the second single, Vijay trounced Balpreet Singh of MCA Department by 12-10 and 11-9.
In Carrom, Mathematics Department trounced Law by straight 2-0 sets. Vimal Singh of Mathematics Department beat Thakur Vinay, while, Minkal Sharma beat Pardeep Gandral of Law Department.
In the second match, Law School beat Physical Education Department by straight 2-0 sets. Anurag Singh of Law School thrashed Taranpal Singh, while, Akash Gupta routed Amit Sharma of Physical Education Department.
In Chess, Chemistry Department trounced Library Science Department by 2-0 sets in the first match. Abhishek Sharma of Chemistry Department beat Sunil Goswani, whereas, Mukesh Sharma thrashed Sumit Sharma of Library Science Department.
In the second match, Law Department routed Business School by straight 2-0 sets. Ranvir Singh Parihar of Law Department outplayed Amit Pal Singh, whereas, Rajan Bhagat beat Sushant Malhotra of Business School.
In Volleyball, Geology Department outplayed Business School by 2-0 sets (25-16 and 26-24), Economics Department thrashed Commerce Department by 2-1 sets (25-23, 22-15 and 15-9).
Law Department got walkover against Punjabi Department, Law School got walkover against Dogri Department and Physical Education Department got walkover against Physics and Electronics Department.
The matches were officiated by Maxim Singh, Amit Sadhotra, Amit Koushal, Taranpal, Shahzad Ali, Romesh Chander Sharma, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Ajay Sharma and Stanzin.
