UDHAMPUR, Feb 2: A meeting of district executive bodies of PHE Employees Association (PHEEA) of both Udhampur and Reasi districts was held here at PHE Complex, wherein the speakers highlighted various demands including release of pending wages of PHE workers.
The meeting chaired by senior vice-president, PHEEA, Jammu province, Som Nath, who discussed various demands of the Association including meeting shortage of staff in the department, change of designation of workers as per nature of working and enhancement of daily wages from Rs 150 to Rs 225.
Addressing the workers, Som Nath urged the Government for early release of about 45 months of pending wages of PHE workers on priority basis. He said that present practice of releasing wages after every six months is total injustice with the CP Workers.
The speakers also demanded the Government to revise the sanctioned strength of the PHE Department, which they alleged has not been revised since creation of divisions since 40-50 years back. He said at present a single worker is doing the job of 4-5 workers in the department.
Besides, they demanded minimum wages to the workers @ Rs 225 per day and benefit of SRO 520 to the Imprest and Estimate workers. They also demanded that designation of employees be changed as per natural working as it has no financial burden on the department.
Those who spoke on the occasion were Makhan Chand, Dinesh Kesar, Baldev Raj, Krishan Chand, Shambu Dutt, Jagdish Magotra, Chuni Lal, Shamsher Singh and many others.
