PHE workers stage protest demonstration

KATHUA, July 27: A large number of PHE workers staged protest demonstration at divisional headquarters here today.
The workers from various sub-divisions and pumping stations, assembled at the office of Executive Engineer, PHE complex Kathua in the morning and held massive protest demonstration in support of their demands. They alleged that higher authorities in the department have failed to solve the pending demands of the employees.
Provincial general secretary of PHE Workers Welfare Association, Subash Verma and senior leader Rattan Doshi pointed out that the department has failed to clear the pending wages of the workers. They said all type of PHE workers be provided wages by the 5th of every month. They also demanded regularization of daily wagers/ CP/ consolidated workers, conduct of DPC of all cadre and filling up of the vacant posts. They said pending wages of all the workers be cleared before Raksha Bandan festival.
Mr Doshi pointed out that a memorandum with charter of demands was also submitted on July 17 but the authorities concerned took no cognizance of the matter. He said if the demands were not addressed the workers will launch indefinite struggle. Prominent among those present included Baldev Singh, Joginder Sharma, Pritam Singh, Surinder Kumar, Manzoor Ali, Ram Gopal, Omkar Sharma, Jorawar Singh and Madan Lal.
