UDHAMPUR, Feb 9: Jal Shakti/PHE Employees and Worker Association today held a strong protest at PHE Complex Udhampur under the chairmanship of Som Nath, District president & senior Trade Union leader Jammu Province.
The employees and workers from Ramnagar, Majalta, Khoon, Mansar, Krimchi, Jib Thathi, Garhi /Rehmble, Chenani, Kud and far flung areas of District Udhampur assembled at PHE Complex here on Monday and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
Som Nath while addressing the gathering , strongly criticized the attitude of popular Govt. He said the daily wagers had high hope of solving their issue by the Govt in the J&K budget. But they are highly disappointed when they found nothing for them in the Budget.
In this budget there is no mention of Minimum Wages Act and pending wages of the employees/ workers. The Government is adopting double standards . The Govt had claimed that issues of the daily wagers will be solved within the time frame but it only turned out to be a mockery. The 60,000 daily wagers are feeling neglected and cheated by the Omar Government. They strongly demanded that CM Omar Abdullah should immediately implement the report of the committee framed by his Government.
Som Nath strongly demanded regularization of day wagers, CP/ITI/Land case workers who have completed 7 years of service as per SRO-64, release of wages of the workers pending for the last 65-70 months (W.e.f. 2014-2020); implement Minimum Wages Act as UT of Ladakh has already adopted it.
He further demanded that shortage of staff be removed by filling up of vacant posts and as per report about 3700 employees are required in a Division only. Due to shortage of staff daikly wagers are over burdened.
Senior leaders also spoke during the protest included- Vijay Sharma, Suraj Parkash, Jagdish, Dinesh Kesar, Sham Lal, Vinod Kumar, Karan Singh, Mohan Singh, Parveen, Javed, Tilak Raj, Shambu Nath, Rattan Lal and others.
