SAMBA, Apr 8: The daily rated and consolidated workers of PHE held protest demonstration against the Government outside DC office here today.
A large number of workers under the leadership of Surinder Singh, district president Water Works PHE Employees Association assembled at DC office here in the morning and started day long protest demonstration. They said the Government engaged daily rated/ consolidated workers to run their new pumping/ PHE stations after 1994 and now the Government is claiming that all will be thrown out.
The agitating workers strongly condemned the statement of Finance Minister who categorically stated it in the Assembly that workers engaged after 1994 will be ousted. They warned to intensify agitation if the Government did not review its decision. After staging protest dharna for about 3-4 hours, the workers then dispersed.
