UDHAMPUR, Jan 31: Appreciating the Minister’s decision of transfers, Water Works (PHE) Employees Association has hoped early and favourable action over other demands of the PHE employees.
An executive body meeting of the Association was held under the chairmanship of district president Som Nath who highlighted the grievances and demands of PHE employees.
Lamenting that PHE workers were without wages for the last 13 months, Som Nath demanded that the department should immediately release the pending wages. He also stressed the need to engage more workers for smooth and proper supply system of drinking water. Crores of rupees are spent on new schemes but no provision is made for engagement of additional workers, he said while pointing out that Rs 28.82 crore project was commissioned in Udhampur town but not even a single worker was engaged under the scheme.
Other demands highlighted in the meeting, included; early Departmental Promotion Committee meeting, benefits of SRO 64 for regularization of workers, enhancement of wages from Rs 125 to Rs 300, etc.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Vijay Kumar, Rattan Singh, Suraj Parkash, Subash Chander, Baldev Raj, Jagdish Magotra, Krishan Chand, Makhan Chand, Shiv Lal, Sanjay Kumar, Charan Dass, Raj Kumar, Janait Ali and Amardeep Singh.
