JAMMU, May 23: The PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI), Jammu Chapter, led by its Chairman Rahul Sahai, today submitted a detailed representation to Arun Manhas, Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu.
As per a statement, the representation included critical suggestions and issues impacting both new and existing industries in Jammu.
During the meeting, it said, Sahai expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce Vikramjit Singh for instituting monthly consultation meetings to address industrial concerns.
It further said that the key recommendations included the immediate commissioning of the promised 320 MW power in Ghati/Samba, ensuring uninterrupted power by separating industrial power feeders from residential and commercial connections, and extending the NCSS Package deadline beyond September 30, 2024, with an increased budget.
The representation also called for expedited departmental permissions, noting that current processes involving eight departments take 113 days, while only 131 days remain for NCSS package application submission.
Equal benefits under the NCSS 2021 package for existing units and a stable 24-hour power supply to avoid production losses in areas like Gangyal, Bari Brahmna, and Birpur were also emphasized.
Additionally, the representation highlighted significant delays in CGST reimbursements pending since the second quarter of 2023, urging a special meeting with the Secretary Finance Department to resolve this issue.
Other points included expedited land allotment for local entrepreneurs, alternate sites for unsuitable industrial estates like Meencharakan, promotion of tiny, micro, and small industries, and awareness programs for solar power generation benefits.
The need for modern facilities in new industrial estates and a review of residential quarter policies in old industrial estates managed by J&K SIDCO were also advocated.
Sahai thanked Arun Manhas for the opportunity to present these issues and anticipated prompt and favorable actions to boost Jammu’s industrial sector.
