JAMMU, Mar 3: In order to discuss their demands, an emergency meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Power Employee Workers Union (PEWU) was held here today.
The meeting was attended by a large number of members, who showed concern about the callous attitude of the Government towards the long pending demands of PDL/TDL and need based members of Power Department.
The members raised the issue of the excess workload on the PDL/TDL and need based workers.
They said, “As per the labour laws the daily workers shall not be engaged for more than eight hours in a day. However, the PDL/TDL and need based workers of the department are working round the clock (24×7) for providing smooth power supply to the public at large and many of these PDL/TDL and need based workers have even laid their life in the line of duty.”
“These already over burdened workers are also assigned additional job of revenue collection as well as the job of implementation of PM Surya Ghar Yojana. They are performing all these duties regularly without any break, but these employees are not yet regularized,” they added.
It is requested that the DPC of all pending daily wagers should be conducted by the Board of Directors of JPDCL.
They demanded the regularization of TDL/PDL workers, issuance of the final seniority list of TDL /PDL workers.
Among others who attended the meeting included Kulbeer Singh, Balbir Singh, Manjeet Singh, Jasbir Singh, Jog Raj Singh and other members of Coordination Committee.
