Persons feared dead in Ramban mishap identified

RAMBAN, Sept 1: The persons, who were feared dead in a mishap here yesterday have been identified.
As per reports, a Tempo Traveller bearing registration number JK14D-7929 rolled down and submerged into Chenab river near Mehar area of this district yesterday evening.
In the incident, 8 persons including 4 cops were feared dead, while one was rescued.
The deceased were identified as HC Mohammad Latief, son of Abdul Salam of Dooru District Anantnag posted with AP 7th Battalion at Channi District Jammu. Constable Aashaq Hussain, son of Mohammad Yaseen Gani of Chadoora District Budgam posted with IR 16th Battalion at Ramban, Constable Altaf Ahmed, son of Abdul Kabir of Sherpura, Pattan posted with IR 16th Battalion at Ramban, Constable Hafeez Ahmed of Gandarwan Tehsil Akhnoor, Jammu posted with IR 16th Battalion at Ramban, Ajay Kumar (driver), son of Tara Chand of Pouni District Reasi, Kuljeet Singh son of Nek Singh of Ukhral District Ramban, Sheshan Devi, wife of Nek Singh of Ukhral District Ramban and Arun Gupta, son of Jag Narayan of Rohtas Bihar employees with IRCON Srinagar.
The cop who was rescued was identified as Mehraj-ud-Din, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Awantipora District Pulwama, posted with AP 7th Battalion at Channi District Jammu.
The search operation was carried out for the second consecutive day, but bodies of the feared dead persons were not recovered.
Cognizance stands taken by Ramban Police in this regard.
