SRINAGAR, Jan 4: Fifty doctors who were among 70 specialists awaiting postings at the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) for months after completing higher studies were today posted in various hospitals across Kashmir to strengthen healthcare services and address specialist shortages.
Around 70 doctors had been awaiting posting without pay for months at DHSK Srinagar, leading to professional hardship and adversely impacting healthcare delivery in several rural areas of Kashmir.
The postings are expected to partially ease staff shortages in peripheral health institutions and reduce the workload on existing medical personnel.
According to an order issued here, the doctors, who were awaiting postings, have been deployed to community health centres, district hospitals, sub district hospitals and emergency hospitals across Kashmir in the interest of administration and better patient care.
The doctors have been deemed relieved from the Directorate with immediate effect and directed to report to their new places of posting forthwith.
The order also directs chief medical officers and medical superintendents of the concerned institutions to submit compliance reports within three days, warning that non-compliance will invite strict disciplinary action under the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services Rules, 1956.
