RAJOURI, Oct 12: The people today staged strong protest demonstration against the murder of 12-year-old boy at Palma on the outskirts of Rajouri town here today.
A large number of people including the relatives of 12-year-old Omar Rehman, a 7th class student of Azad Public School, assembled on Rajouri-Budhal Road at Palma and raised barricades. They placed the body of the boy on the road at around 10 am and started protest demonstration. Deceased’s father Abdul Rehman who is serving in CISF at Mumbai, reached home early today after receiving information about the murder of his son.
The relatives, family members and villagers of the area raised slogans against Rajouri police and demanded that culprits be arrested without any delay. With the blockade, the movement of vehicles came to halt on this road.
Later, SP Rajouri Mubassar Latiffi, Assistant Commissioner, DySP and SHO reached at the spot. They assured the agitating people and family members that killers of the boy will be arrested soon and they can not remain outside moving freely for long.
On the assurance of police officials, the people then lifted dharna after an hour and allowed movement of traffic. Later, the relatives took away the body for the last rites.
It is pertinent to mention here that dead body of Omar was recovered from an isolated area about 500 meters away from his house. He had gone to the house of his Fufi, which is hardly one and half kilometer away. He had to go to his school and went missing. After long search, his dead body was found hanging on a pine tree.
