MENDHAR, Sept 5: The people from Balakote area of Poonch held protest against the PHE authorities for the water crisis in the area.
The people under the banner of Balakote Youth Front assembled at the Block headquarters and held protest demonstration against PHE authorities, Poonch. They also raised slogans against Chief Engineer PHE and minister concerned. They alleged that Khanetar and Basuni Water Supply Schemes have been abandoned and the people of this belt were facing water crisis for the last one year. The authorities have failed to take cognizance of the matter. A population over of 2000 people is badly suffering.
AEE, PHE Mendhar claimed that funds for the Schemes were not released during this year and therefore, the work has been abandoned. As and when the funds are released the work will be resumed, he added.
