RAJOURI, Sept 12: The Dassal-Seera road in Rajouri district has been left in a deplorable condition following recent rains, causing severe hardships to the local population, especially the student community.
The damaged stretch of road has made vehicular movement impossible, forcing school-going children to walk nearly four kilometers on-foot daily to reach the main road and catch buses for school.
Students and their parents lodged a strong protest against the concerned authorities, demanding immediate repair of the road. Parents expressed deep concern over the difficulties faced by their children, particularly during morning and evening hours, and warned that the issue, if ignored, may escalate into larger public demonstration.
The Dassal-Seera road is a vital link, providing connectivity to a large population in the area. However, locals allege that despite repeated representations to the PMGSY department, no action has been taken so far. “We have approached the department several times, but till now, nothing concrete has been done,” residents said.
The protesting locals urged the district administration and concerned authorities to intervene at the earliest and ensure that repair work on the road is taken up without any further delay.
