KATHUA, Mar 20: The residents of Marheen, Sangi Morh blocked the border road this evening and protested against the police for harassing a Kabaddi player.
They blocked the road for more than two hours as irate people sat on protest dharna at Sangi Morh and disrupted the movement of traffic to border area.
The people showed anger as DySP Border slapped a youth during a naka laid down by police to nab the anti social elements. The police naka party stopped a youth Jeevan Singh who is Kabbadi player and enquired about his movement in the area. During questioning DySP slapped the youth on some discussion.
The youth took serious note of police highhandedness and took to streets. The local people including Sarpanch, Panchs, political persons assembled at Sangimorh and protested there.
They raised slogans in support of their demands. The traffic was suspended on border road and people sat on dharna. After getting information, Additional SP, Suresh Chib reached on the spot to listen the grievances of people. He pacified them and assured action.
The protesters were demanding apology from DySP for his act on innocent person. They lifted the protest after assurance by Additional SP, Suresh Chib.
