People protest, block road

MENDHAR, Feb 17:  The people held protest demonstration and blocked  Mendhar- Jammu  road at Sangala Chowk here today.
The people led by a local community leader came out on the road and raised barricades at Sangala Chowk at around 10 am and  disrupted the movement of traffic for about two hours. They were shouting slogans against  police for excluding two accused in a case pertaining to attack on local three liquor vendors December 12, 2015  at Mendhar town.
The police had registered a case FIR No. 150/ 2015 against three accused Tipu Khan of Sakhi Maidan, Akeel Khan  and Touseef Khan of Mendhar. The family members and relatives of Akeel alleged that police was protecting Tipu and Tauseef  while challan was  being filed only against Akeel. They shouted slogans against concerned Investigating Officer and local police.
Later, SDPO Shahid Nahim reached there and assured the people that action under law will be taken against all the accused wanted in the case. Then they lifted dharna at around 12 noon.
The SDPO when contacted said that these three accused were involved in attack on  liquor vendors Lavan Kumar, Kannu Kapoor and Sanjay Kumar at Mendhar. During process of investigation two of them Tipu and Tauseef had compromise with the vendors. Therefore, only  Akeel had to be produced in the court of law. SDPO said that he would personally look into the case.
