JAMMU, Sept 9: A large number of people held protest over the alleged sacrilegious act in the jurisdiction of Channi Himmat police station, this evening.
As per police sources, people observed sacrilegious act in a plot near Malik Market and held protest. The protesting people also blocked the Sidhra-Kunjwani by pass road.
The protesters alleged that the Rohingyas residing nearby had done this sacrilegious act and demanded immediate arrest of the persons behind the incident.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and assured the protesting people of arresting the persons behind this alleged sacrilegious act.
On the assurance, the protesters dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
When contacted SDPO East Arun Jamwal told the Excelsior that a case under Section 298-A has been registered at Channi Himmat police station and investigation started. Six persons have been detained for questioning, he added.
