SUNDERBANI, Aug 10: The people from Thandapani and adjoining villages including men, women and youth held strong protest demonstration against PDD and blocked Jammu-Poonch highway for an hour near Sunderbani for not installing new transformer.
They alleged low voltage and frequent unscheduled power cuts in the area. The people demanded immediate transfer of concerned senior staff at PDD office Sunderbani including AEE.
A large number of people of the town and villages, including local traders Manjeet Singh, Ramesh Chander, Panch Ravinder Kumar, Makhan Singh and others came out on the road at main chowk, Thandapani and blocked Jammu-Poonch highway by raising slogans against AEE of PDD Sunderbani Rajiv Koul. Some of them sat on dharna on the road while others started shouting loud slogans against the PDD authorities. They alleged that people were facing worst kind of hardships due to darkness after burning of transformer for the last one week.
The protesters alleged that they met Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Sunderbani but he misbehaves with the public instead of rectifying problem or giving proper response. Later, Naib Tehsildar Thandapani, Parshotam Singh rushed to the spot and assured that their issue will be resolved within next 24 hours.
