People demand restoration of land to school

KATHUA, Oct 29: Public resentment is brewing in Pansar and adjoining areas where over 20 kanals of land allotted to the Government School Pansar is being encroached by some nomads.
According to people of the area the land which was on the name of a  local resident was cancelled by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu over the years back and later it was grabbed by some Gujjars.
However the authorities swung into action and removed the encroachments. Later it was transferred to the Middle School Pansar near BOP for construction of a play ground for the children.
However due to the failure of Revenue authorities to allot the land on the name of school in the revenue records some nomads again erected the tents on it which were again removed by the authorities.
Being the border area people apprehend the movement of unwanted elements from there if the land is allowed to be encroached by strangers. They demanded that the land be immediately restored to the school failing which a mass movement will be launched by them.
However the SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal said that no encroachment of the land has been made and the nomads taking their cattle for grazing from one place to another had put a temporary shelter place there but they too have been evicted.
