KATHUA, Feb 5: The irate residents of Raj Bagh blocked the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway for 45 minutes this afternoon in protest against the power crisis in the area while the residents of Bhamravra an adjoining village of Rajbagh locked the M&RE Division at Kathua and held a dharna in front of the office in protest against the power crisis in the village.
The protesters at Rajbagh alleged that the area is facing complete power crisis for last four days and the Department has failed to take the cognizance of the same forcing them to come to streets and block the Highway.
The Highway blockade was lifted by them only after the SDPO Border Divakar Singh and SHO concerned visited the area and assured the people that they will take up the issue with concerned authorities and get the problem solved.
The residents of Bhamravra who are facing total blackout for last 12 days due to breakdown of transformer today held a demonstration in front of M&RE Division Kathua and locked the office from outside. Shouting slogans against the authorities they demanded immediate installation of transformer in the area.
