Pensioners Welfare Federation appoints Sheikh Riyaz as Provincial President

JAMMU, Mar 5: A meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Welfare Federation/ Senior Citizens Civil Society was held today at TRC Jammu under the chairmanship of State President Sampat Prakash.
The meeting was attended by all the Central body leaders, presidents/general secretaries and unanimously decided that Sheikh Riyaz Ahmad, retired General Manager J&K Industries Ltd, shall function as Provincial President Jammu Region of the Pensioners Welfare Federation/ Senior Citizens Civil Society in place of Shakti Gupta, who is unable to function due to his ill health though he rendered great service to the pensioners cause for a decade.
Further, Mohd Aslam Malik, retired Superintendent of Police shall function as Chairman Chenab Valley Pensioners Welfare Federation/ Senior Citizens Civil Society, consisting of Kishtwar/Doda/Ramban districts.
The meet was informed that the State Pensioners Federation will at an earliest meet Lt Governor J&K Union Territory, Chief Secretary J&K and Principal Secretary Finance for early settlement of the Medi-Claim Scheme for Government employees and pensioners, enhancement of Medical Allowance from Rs 300/- to Rs l000/- and also for release of January 2020 installment of DA as admissible to the pensioners.
“This was a commitment made by Prime Minister of India Narinder Modi sometimes back that all benefits/allowances, Medical Schemes i. e admissible to the Central Govt /Pensioners and Union Territories in toto and necessary memorandum in this context has already been submitted to the PM, Lt Governor J&K, Chief Secretary & Principal Secretary (Finance),” the meet said and appealed to all pensioners of J&K, numbering more than 2 lakhs to organize for a peaceful activity of the burning issues.
