SRINAGAR, Aug 10: A meeting of J&K Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society was held under the chairmanship of its president, Mir Gh Rasool Botvani here, today.
It was attended by Mohd Subhan Dar Ghulam Mohi- ud- Din general secretary, Ghulam Rasool Bhat, D. N. Sadhu, State secretary, Master G M Rather, Mukhtar Ahmad Bazaz while Bashir Ahmed Malik, Ghulam Mohiuddin Buhru, Noor Mohd Mir, Noor Mohd Sheikh, comrade Baldev Raj, Pran Nath, Gh Mohd War participated through virtual mode.
The meeting, while commenting on release of DA w. e. f 01.07.2021 said the old age pensioners, family pensioners feel annoyed due to non releasing of their arrears from January last year to June this year and demanded the same be released at an earliest.
They said the old age pensioners can not fulfill their requirements in view of huge expenditure on their ailments, besides exorbitant prices of essential commodities.
They appealed to the Central Government and LG of J&K UT that arrears be released in favour of all employees and pensioners / family pensioners especially old age pensioners immediately.
They said additional pension allowed to the elderly pensioners at 20% 30%, 40%, 50% and 100% at the age of 80,85,90,95 and 100 years vide SRO 138 needs a compassionate view for modification of SRO 138 for grant of 100% additional pension from the age of 70 years to all old age pensioners.
The welfare measures taken for senior citizens by the Government need to be extended in all districts
Medical Allowance may be granted equitant to the Central Government employees and pensioners at Rs 1000 per month, the meeting demanded.
