Pensioners seek release of PF, Gratuity of retirees

JAMMU, Oct 9: J&K Govt Retirees Pensioner Employees Association today discussed the issues and invited the immediate attention of the concerned authorities, public representatives and general public to the long standing and unresolved grievances of pensioners, daily wages and Govt employees.
In a meeting of the Association held here today under the leadership of Kulwant Singh Sambyal, its president, the members said that despite years of dedicated services, several irregularities and delays have occurred causing mental, emotional and financial distress to many pensioners. With holding or delaying post-retirement dues is a violation of constitutional right to life and dignity under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. Pension related benefits cannot be stopped are legal entitlements, not favours. They are earned after years honest and dedicated public service.
They said the suffering caused by the delays has resulted immense mental, emotional and financial’ stress among the senior citizens. Many retired employees are experiencing unacceptable delays often ranging from a year in receiving their Gratuity, GP Fund, Commuted Loan etc. which is retirement benefits, employees own hard earned saving etc.
This impact their ability to manage crucial life expenses such medical treatment, education, marriage of their children, land purchase, house repair etc.
They further demanded enhancement of Medical allowance of pensioners and Govt employees from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, released of 18 months pending DA arrears, early release of 4 percent DA due from July 1st this year in favour of Govt. employees and pensioners, regularization of daily rated workers under, restore Old Pension Scheme, appointment of Chairman & Members of 8th Pay Commission, release GPF of Govt employees and pensioners.
The pensioners have appealed to the LG Governor Manoj Sinha and Omar Abdullah CM of J&K UT, to intervene into the matter and issue directions to Subordinate Principle Secretary to Finance J&K UT and resolve their long pending burning issues without any more delay.
Members of the Association -Rampal Chopra, Ashok Sharma, Charm Dass, RL Bhat, Rattan Lal, Satpal, Vidya Bhushan, PL Sharma, Bhumlesh Gupta, Satvir Singh and others were also present.
