Srinagar, Nov 13: The Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association, Kashmir (CGPWAK), held its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Amar Singh Club today.
During the event, the Association launched its website and unveiled the inaugural issue of its Journal, featuring valuable information on pensioners’ benefits.
Addressing the attendees, Mohamad Shafi Pandit, the President of the Association, articulated the organization’s objectives.
He emphasized the Association’s mission to serve as a comprehensive platform for Central Government pensioners, estimated to exceed thirty thousand in the Valley.
“The primary goals are to facilitate interaction among pensioners, provide a forum for them to address their concerns to the authorities, aid in post-retirement placements whenever feasible, and implement welfare programs for their benefit,” he stated.
It was also highlighted that the Association received recognition from the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) GoI, ensuring the flow of benefits under various schemes for its pensioners.
Notably, Valley pensioners now have access to the CGHS Wellness Centre at Sanat Nagar, Srinagar, which offers health coverage and free medicines for registered Central Government Health Scheme beneficiaries.
During the occasion, an Executive Committee comprising 11 members was elected through a secret ballot for a term of 3 years.
