Peddler held with heroin

JAMMU, Apr 17: Nowabad Police today arrested a drug peddler and recovered 5.9 grams of heroin (chitta) like substance from him.
“A team of Police Post Canal led by PSI Darshan Singh established a naka near 4th bridge for vehicle checking and during checking a pedestrian who was on his way from 4th bridge was signalled to stop near Bhagwati Nagar Chowk,” a police spokesman said.
He said instead of stopping, the pedestrian started running backwards towards 4th bridge but the alert police team apprehended the person after a short chase. “During his search, 5.9 grams of heroin (chitta) like substance was recovered from the possession of this pedestrian who was later identified as Sahil Kumar son of Bodh Raj, resident of lane number 1, Shakti Nagar (Jammu),” he added.
The spokesman said the accused pedestrian was arrested and a case FIR Number 64/24 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered in this connection at Police Station Nowabad. Further Investigation of the case was going on, he added.
