Srinagar, Apr 15: Police in Shopian today arrested a drug peddler and recovered over 20 kgs of charas from his possession.
Authorities said that a police party from the Police Post Wachi, stationed at a checkpoint established in Safanagri, intercepted a suspicious person who attempted to flee but was tactfully apprehended.
“During the search, 20.548 kgs of charas concealed in two nylon bags were recovered from his possession,” police stated.
He has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar and resident of Darbagh.
Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 29/2024, encompassing relevant sections of the law, has been registered at the Zainapora Police Station, and an investigation has been initiated.
