JAMMU, Jan 7: The Jammu unit of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today paid rich tribute to former Chief Minister and party founder Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on his 10th death anniversary at the party headquarters, here.

Party leaders, workers and supporters gathered in large number to remember the visionary leader and to reaffirm their commitment to his ideals of peace, dignity and reconciliation for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Floral tribute were offered to the late leader and his immense contributions to the political and social landscape of Jammu and Kashmir was recalled with deep respect. Speakers unanimously noted that the Mufti- era as Chief Minister was the golden period of Jammu and Kashmir, marked by openness, connectivity, dialogue and unprecedented outreach to all regions and communities.
The event was attended by former Minister Basharat Bukhari, additional general secretary Satpal Charak, Youth president Aditya Gupta, District president Varinder Singh Sonu, along with senior party leaders, workers and well-wishers of the Party.
Addressing the gathering, the leaders highlighted Mufti Sayeed’s inclusive vision of unity, empowerment of youth, equitable development of all regions and respect for Jammu’s rightful aspirations. They reiterated that Mufti Sahib believed Jammu and Kashmir to be a unique state whose strength lies in harmony and a collective voice. They strongly criticised the present NC-led government for its failures, stating that governance has derailed, development has stagnated and the administration remains unresponsive to public grievances.
Similar function was held in Poonch (Haveli) where party leaders and workers led by Zonal president Kamaljeet Singh paid rich tributes to Late Mufti Sayeed on his death anniversary.
