JAMMU, Mar 25: The People Democratic Party (PDP) today demanded an immediate CBI investigation into the circumstances of the custodial death of BSF constable Jaswinder Singh, while in the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The demand was raised by Varinder Singh (Sonu) spokesperson PDP in a press conference held here today.
Addressing to the media persons, Sonu criticized the NCB for negligence and alleged custodial misconduct and called for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the case to ensure an impartial and credible probe.
He emphasized that deaths in custody, particularly of security personnel, require full transparency and accountability.
The PDP leader categorically rejected the NCB’s claim that he died of cardiac events and alleged that he was physically tortured and mistreated during interrogation, pointing to visible injuries on his body.
He also stressed that the case was dismissed against him, the suspension order by the BSF had been revoked and he had been honoured with a guard of honour as a martyr.
The party leader also condemned a misinformation campaign by a reporter, who circulated false narratives to malign Jaswinder Singh’s reputation.
