POONCH, Jan 29: The daily wage employee of Power Development Department (PDD) was injured when he was working to restore power supply to Bela Sethi area under Grid Station Loran of Tehsil Mandi in Poonch today.
Some PDD workers said that they were regularly working to restore power in various areas after snowfall. Today, when they were undergoing work on Bela- Sethi line , despite taking the shutdown, the daily wager employee received shocks and was injured. Identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Hakam Din, resident of Loran (Garang), he was shifted to SDH Mandi.
Alleging the negligence of the department, the daily wager employees said that after ensuring full clearance by the ground officers, they all started work to restore power but one of the employees was injured.
It appears that some one from the Grid Station turned on the power supply. And if there was some fault even then it is negligence on the part of officials at the helm of affairs. No safety equipments have been given to the workers. They demanded impartial inquiry and action against the guilty official/officials. An FIR be registered in this connection, they asserted.
