JAMMU, Sept 7: In an attempt to provide services to the tax payers at their door steps, Principal Commissioner Income Tax J&K, Sangeeta Gupta today formally inaugurated new income tax office at Rajouri.
Speaking on the occasion, Sangeeta Gupta said that the tax payers of Rajouri and Poonch districts are facing lots of problems regarding filling of returns / settling of their grievances as they have to visit Jammu office but now their suffering have came to an end with the opening of new office at Rajouri.
On the occasion, seminars on Income Declaration Scheme was also organized at Rajouri and Sunderbani which were attended by the members of Beopar Mandal, Jewellers Association, representatives of Trade Federation of Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajouri and Poonch, members of Bar Association, professionals, advocates and prominent citizens, members of business community, senior officers of J&K Bank and other officers of department Manzula Raizada, Prem Bhardwaj, P S Jamwal, Parveen Sharma and Hans Raj.
Speaking on the occasion, PCIT, S K Sharma JCIT Range 2 Jammu, Hemant Gupta JCIT Range 1 Jammu appraised the gathering of the benefit of the Income Declaration Scheme. They explained that those persons who have not disclosed correct income or have not filled their income tax returns in earlier years should come forward and disclose the undisclosed income and come clean by paying 45% tax to avoid scrutiny and other penal and prosecution proceedings.
It was reiterated that this will be a onetime opportunity to all those persons who have not declared their income correctly in the past and sleeping over the black money to come forward and declare such undisclosed income after which the Income Tax Department will be at liberty to deal with such tax defaulter as warranted under the Income Tax/Wealth Tax Act.
