UDHAMPUR, Sept 7: Senior leader Pawan Khajuria today said the Panchayats of Chhodd Panjian, Motu, Garh, Babe, and Kogad Marh in tehsil Majalta of district Udhampur have been severely affected by a massive landslide. Hundreds of houses have been damaged, leaving local residents homeless, hungry, and forced to live under the open sky.
Khajuria who visited the area today along with his team led a protest of landslide victims. He said unfortunately, neither the State Government nor the district administration has sent any representative to these villages so far, leaving the affected families completely abandoned.
He met the villagers, assessed the damage on the ground, and distributed relief material, ration, and tents, providing immediate support to the victims.
Attacking the State Government and administration for their insensitivity, Pawan Khajuria said “This is not mere negligence but a betrayal of the people. Hundreds of families are suffering amid debris and hunger, while the State Government is in a deep slumber. The apathy of the State Government and administration clearly shows they have no concern for the common man. I demand immediate relief and rehabilitation measures for the victims, otherwise the people will never forgive this failure.”
The villagers also commended Pawan Khajuria’s proactive efforts, stating that for the first time, a leader actually reached them with real help, while the UT Government and administration remained confined to paperwork.
On this occasion, former Sarpanch, Rajesh Sharma, Kewal, Naib Sarpanch Janak Singh, Naib Sarpanch Vijay Kumar, Mohammad Shafi, and other local residents were also present.
