UDHAMPUR, Aug 31: MLA Udhampur, Pawan Gupta has claimed that the move for enhancement of pension from Rs 200 to Rs 1000 per month for young widows, old age and physically challenged persons, was proposed by him as then Minister for State during the last budget session.
Talking to media persons, here today, Mr Gupta said that he as member of the Council of Ministers had projected the demand and incorporated the same in the policy of the Government even as the same could not achieve its logic conclusion that time.
“During the current budget session in Srinagar I had also moved a cut motion in this regard and Government became helpless against the deviation of last year’s promise agreed to concede this genuine demand,” the MLA said and added that he also had series of meetings with Social Welfare Minister Sajad Lone on this burning demand.
