UDHAMPUR, Aug 8: Pawan Khajuria, a senior political leader from Udhampur, held a meeting with prominent workers at his office Sailan Talab here, today. The main objective of this meeting was to discuss the various problems people are facing in their respective areas.
Addressing the meeting, Pawan Khajuria said that due to the hilly terrain, people are facing problems during the rainy season. Every year, during the monsoons, roads, retaining walls, culverts, etc., get affected. The Central Government takes these issues seriously, but unfortunately, it seems that the State Government is not serious.
He appealed to the workers to keep an eye on the issues people are facing in their villages or localities due to the rains and try to find solutions. If the problem is severe, they should contact him so that he can work towards resolving them as soon as possible.
Khajuria said- in some places there are issues with dirty or contaminated water, in others, there are problems with mud houses or collapsing retaining walls, and many more such issues arise during this time. This time, the rainfall is even heavier, and landslides are occurring in many areas. Due to the lack of timely and proper arrangements, road accidents are taking place frequently. Just yesterday, a CRPF vehicle met with an accident in which several soldiers lost their lives. Similar accidents continue to happen involving other vehicles, autos, and two-wheelers.
He further mentioned that he and his team members are visiting almost all the Panchayats, and the situation is the same in most areas.
Similarly, there is also a problem of drinking water – the water from village springs has also become contaminated due to the rains and is no longer fit for drinking.
He urged everyone to go to their respective areas, assess the people’s problems, and bring those issues to his attention so that he can work with the district administration and concerned department officials to resolve them quickly.
