POONCH, Sept 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested a Patwari of Patwar Halqa Shahpur in Poonch for taking a bribe of Rs 15,000.
An ACB official said a complaint was received against the Patwari, Jameel Ahmed Bhat, alleging that he had demanded Rs 20,000 for processing compensation papers after the complainant’s house was damaged in heavy rains.

The complainant, unable to pay the bribe, approached the ACB and sought action, he said.
Accordingly, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered at Police Station ACB Rajouri, the ACB official said.
During investigation, he said, a trap was laid, and the Patwari was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 15,000 from the complainant.
He was arrested on-the-spot, and searches were carried out at his residence, he said.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway.
