JAMMU, Apr 5: The All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association (AJKPA) has threatened to go on three-day token strike from coming Monday if the Government fails to address its long-pending demands.
Addressing a press conference, here today, the Association president said that even after more than three years, most of its core demands remain un-redressed. He recalled that on 09.03.2022 and 10.03.2023, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir signed the MoU and formally accepted the genuine demands raised by the Patwar Association. “The Government had assured that all demands would be redressed within the stipulated time. However, it is very unfortunate that after a lapse of more than three years, our genuine demands have not been redressed,” said the president.
Highlighting the demands, which include; posting of Patwaris of Jammu province promoted as Girdawar, rationalization of Patwar Halqas (PH) and Girdawar circles, technical grade pay for eligible Patwaris, ban on direct recruitment and issuance of the seniority list of Girdawars of Jammu province, the Association warned that if the demands are not addressed by next Monday, all Patwaris across J&K will go on three-day token strike.
