RAMBAN, Feb 7: MLA Udhampur, Ranbir Singh Pathania termed the Union Budget 2026-27 as a path towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
Pathania was addressing a press conference, highlighting the far-reaching impact of the Union Budget themed “Kartavya se Viksit Bharat – Execution, Stability and Inclusive Growth.”
He stated that Budget 2026 stands out for ushering in structural reforms such as the New Income Tax Act, 2025 replacing the 1961 law, ensuring simpler compliance and trust-based governance.
The MLA welcomed the reduction of fiscal deficit to 4.3 percent, calling it a strong signal of economic stability and investor confidence.
The record capital expenditure of Rs 12.2 lakh crore, he said, “Will accelerate infrastructure creation, employment generation and overall economic expansion. The strategic shift toward frontier sectors like semiconductors, biopharma and rare earths will place India firmly on the global innovation map.”
Turning to Jammu & Kashmir, Pathania termed the Rs 43,290 crore allocation, including Rs 42,650 crore as central assistance and RS 2,000 crore increase over last year, as a decisive step toward financial stability and uninterrupted Governance.
He further welcomed Rs 259 crore for Jhelum-Tawi flood recovery, Dal Lake and riverfront rejuvenation initiatives and Rs 279 crore Disaster Response Fund allocation to boost environmental sustainability and disaster resilience.
“In health and welfare, zero customs duty on cancer drugs and plans for regional medical hubs will expand affordable treatment and promote medical tourism,” he said.
Summing up, Pathania stated that this budget moves Jammu & Kashmir from deficit pressures to assured governance, from seasonal tourism to a year-round economy, from raw produce to high-value agriculture and from dependence to self-sustaining growth.
He termed it “Kartavya in Action,” reinforcing dignity, opportunity and stability for the region on the path to Viksit Bharat 2047.
