UDHAMPUR, Aug 21: Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Udhampur East, has come down heavily for the inexplicable 13-year delay in disbursing compensation to families whose lands were acquired in 2012.
Addressing a large gathering at village Mand on the National Highway, Pathania went all hammer and tongs questioning why is 20 percent of the lawfully due compensation to affected landowner still being withheld even after 13 years? “This injustice cannot be tolerated any further,” he thundered.
The remarks drew loud applause from the audience, as Pathania demanded immediate accountability and release of withheld payments.
On the same day, Pathania also undertook an extensive tour of flood-affected areas in Udhampur. Accompanied by officials, he inspected damaged roads, public infrastructure, and residential houses. He called upon the administration to amend SDRF norms to ensure every rain-affected family is indemnified.
He also demanded immediate restoration of drinking water supply in affected areas, clearance of blocked roads including Larang, Kah, and the University Campus Road, repair of damaged irrigation channels and power lines without delay.
“Floods have devastated homes and infrastructure. Relief and restoration must not be delayed. Government must stand by the people in this hour of crisis,” Pathania emphasized while interacting with affected families.
The meeting saw participation from several prominent leaders including Puran Chand (DDC), Mandal Pradhan, Ashish Sharma, Lalita Sharma, and many community members.
