UDHAMPUR, Nov 2: MLA Udhampur East, R S Pathania today inaugurated the construction work on the Banu–Bilaspur Road, a key infrastructure project worth nearly Rs 12 crore, terming it “another decisive step towards making Udhampur East a national model in road infrastructure.”
Speaking at the occasion, Pathania said that the project would bring about a generational transformation in the road-connectivity spectrum of the region, as it will extend road access to several long-neglected habitations including Sortha, Paldai, Baddar, Banjli, Kanetar, Thanua, Jalmara, Sountha, Bredian, Jard and others.
The MLA also conducted public interaction programmes at Dehma Chiani, Majalta and adjoining habitations, where he announced funds for connectivity projects in Majalta and Chiani. He further sanctioned land drains and culverts to ensure durable, safe and all-weather road assets for the local population.
Addressing a gathering at Sundla, Pathania informed that a post-landslide rehabilitation plan has been finalized and will soon be implemented to provide immediate relief, protection and institutional support to all affected families.
He reiterated that land for housing, affordable connectivity, proper drinking water and other civic essentials will now be delivered in a time-bound and outcome-based manner, adding that the local administration has been instructed to fast-track the formal inclusion of all affected families into the Government support system.
Highlighting Udhampur’s achievements in road development, Pathania noted that during the last Assembly session, Ramnagar led the way in infrastructure progress. “Because of the remarkable development of roads under PMGSY, Udhampur had emerged as the number one district in India for road construction under the scheme,” he added.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Mohan Lal Sharma (Mandal pradhan), Shiv Ram, Kuldeep Singh, Kirpal Singh, Vikram, Namrata, Baldev, Manoj Verma, Nawab Din, Bhushan Kumar (Panch) besides a large number of local leaders and public representatives.
