UDHAMPUR, Dec 4: Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA of Udhampur East, today pitch-forked demand for granting Tehsil status to Tikri and Ghordi, recognizing the growth and developmental potential of these areas.
He emphasized that the administrative recognition would help these regions address their growing needs more effectively. “Tikri and Ghordi are long-established Niyabats, but the vast distance from these areas to the nearest Tehsil creates significant hardships for residents. On a daily basis, commuters face an uphill task in reaching their concerned Tehsils, which hampers their access to essential services. Moreover, Niyabats with smaller areas have already been promoted to Tehsil status long ago, making this disparity even more apparent,” he said while addressing gathering at the inauguration of two road projects, here today.
Pathania said that granting Tehsil status to Tikri and Ghordi, along with the establishment of all Tehsil-related offices, would greatly ease the daily challenges faced by the people and promote rapid developmental activities. This step is in line with the sentiments of the local population and supports the Bharat Sarkar’s vision of bringing governance closer to the people, ensuring better accessibility and improved delivery of services, he added.
The two key road projects inaugurated by Pathania included the macadamization of the Roun Domail to National Highway road, with an investment of Rs 34.05 Lacs, and the Chalora Ward No. 4 Malhar macadamization, with a tender cost of Rs 38.86 Lacs.
Pathania also urged the Jal Jeevan Mission to immediately focus on making water supply functional in the Malhar and Seen Brahmana areas. He stressed that ensuring access to clean drinking water is just as vital as improving road connectivity for the well-being of local communities.
The inauguration was attended by several prominent local leaders, including Subash, Mandal Pradhan; Puran Chand, DDC; and ex-Sarpanchs from various areas such as Vikram Singh (Garnai), Verinder (Malhar), Krishan Singh (Roun), Ashok Padha, Lalita Sharma (Tikri), Arti Sharma (Mand), Sunita Rathore (Battal), Dina Nath, Sumer Singh, Angrez, and Rajinder Singh.
