RAMNAGAR, Apr 5: Former MLA and BJP spokesperson, Ranbir Singh Pathania has reiterated the demand for immediate start of work on Water Supply Scheme (WSS), Ujh. He said that as many as 50 villages living on the flanks of river Ujh do not have any access to drinking water as well as water for irrigation purposes.
While addressing a series of meetings including the one at Ramnagar, today he said there is no scope that under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) they will be provided water facility as there is no voluble source in the respective areas wherefrom the water requirements of the people living there could be effectively fulfilled.
He stressed that during his stint as Legislator of the area, he had already got prepared a proposal/project regarding lifting of water from Ujh river which could be used for meeting the drinking water requirements as well as irrigation needs of the people living in these flanks.
The scheme is a historic which is biggest ever drinking water supply scheme in J & K. And it shall provide drinking water connectivity to as many as one lac people as well as people living in adjoining areas of Billawar, Majalta and Basantgarh tehsils, he added.
The villages which are proposed to be benefitted by this drinking water supply scheme are Siyamehri, Playeei, Chhatrara, Chigla Balota, Upperla Balota, Khaned, Mang, Losru, Chore, Panjian, Mottu, Babey, G.S Banj, Mariala, Sundla, Amwara, Jophar, Lehar, Noul, Dheeran, Baryalta, Rang, Blandh, Kogharmarh, Thelay and many other.
He further asked for fast peddling the work on schemes sanctioned under JJM. In majority of the cases the progress is not very satisfactory and work is lurking half way at many places. In some places such as WSS Dalsar, Sulan, Katwalat the tendered contractors were issued Letter of Allotments (LOAs) but they have not yet started the work thereby keeping the local people bereft of the drinking water facility. Pathania was also apprehensive of repairing of the hand pumps and refurbishment of local wells within the limits of Ramnagar town.
He demanded immediate start of work on girls hostel Chowki as well as RAMSA buildings for High School Jandrore and, High School Rassein.
Pathania sensitised party cadres especially Shakti Kendras and held meetings with polling booth presidents, Vistaraks, office bearers and Mandal teams.
