UDHAMPUR, Dec 7: New motorable double lane bridge on Dhar road at Darsu was dedicated to public by MLA Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania. It is the 5th bridge on Dhar road dedicated to public since his election as MLA Udhampur East.
Pathania said more bridges on Birwan and Darsu Nala are in the pipeline to improve connectivity.  “We visualise to standardise road between DC Office Udhampur to Dharmanpur, with plans to widen and upgrade the road,. The road, created 50 years ago, is a lifeline for Udhampur, Majalta, Aramnagar, Billawar, Bani, Basohli, and Samba tehsil’’.
Earlier, the bridge was virtually inaugurated by Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh from Delhi. It was inaugurated on spot by Pathania amongst thunderous applause in presence of prominent citizens and senior officers of Border Roads Organisation.
He also kick-started the BT/Tarcoal work on the PMGSY road connecting NH to Rounmail, being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 24 lakh, reaffirming his sustained focus on strengthening rural road connectivity in the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA underlined that metalled roads form the backbone of development, stating that reliable all-weather connectivity is indispensable for education, healthcare access, agricultural marketing, employment generation, and social integration. He observed that quality roads significantly reduce travel time, boost economic activity, and improve the overall quality of life in rural areas.
Reiterating his vision, Pathania said that “making every road traffic-worthy with superior quality standards capable of withstanding the vagaries of time and space is our cherished slogan.” He stressed that PMGSY roads must not be treated as temporary works, but as long-term public assets built to last.
The MLA noted that improved road connectivity directly strengthens last-mile service delivery, including water supply maintenance, emergency response, and doorstep governance. During the visit, he also reviewed the disrupted water supply schemes, particularly WSS Darsoo and WSS Jaganoo, and issued firm directions to concerned departments for early restoration and uninterrupted supply.
Among those present on the occasion were Puran Chand, DDC Member; Ashish Sharma, Mandal Pradhan, Mohinder Sharma, Mandal Pradhan; Subhash Sharma, Deep Singh, others and others.
