UDHAMPUR, Dec 18: Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Udhampur-East, along with NHAI Project Director Anuj Kumar, conducted detailed, ringside spot surveys of National Highway, especially at Gole Mela.
During detailed inspection of accident-prone points along the National Highway at Sangoor and Gole Mela, they had a spot survey of plans for major traffic decongestion and safety upgrades.
“Both the Sangoor and Gole Mela projects are crucial part of our vision for Udhampur East. By addressing these accident-prone areas, we will not only ease traffic but also create safer conditions for all road users,” stated Pathania. He expressed gratitude to the Government of India and Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for PMO, for their ongoing support in making these projects a reality.
The inspection also focused on highlighting solutions tailored to each site’s specific needs. Local leaders, including DDC Udhampur Puran Chand and several Sarpanches were present.
In addition to inspecting these critical traffic points, Pathania outlined plans for expanding service lanes right from Tikri upto Jakheni Chowk, which will help alleviate congestion and improve access for commuters.
Celebrating progress on other infrastructure initiatives, Pathania highlighted the construction of fly-overs/under passes at key locations, including Tikri, Garnai, Gole Mela, and DPS Chowk. He also gave instructions for foot bridges at Battal Balian Industrial area curve, Diamond Chowk, Malahar, Garnai, Kah/Flata.
Earlier in the day, Pathania also inaugurated several key road projects aimed at boosting connectivity in the region. The new roads, including those from Upper Battal Ballian to Ladyala, Battal Ballian to G Paddar, and Battal Ballian to Par Pakh, with a total investment of Rs 111.96 lakhs under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), will ensure seamless all-weather connectivity for local residents and enhance the region’s overall infrastructure.
Addressing the gathering, Pathania stressed that robust infrastructure is the cornerstone of any thriving economy. “These road projects will do more than just improve connectivity. They will serve as the backbone for growth in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, education and healthcare. With better roads, Udhampur East will not only attract investments but will also become a gateway for increased trade, tourism, and job opportunities,” he remarked.
