JAMMU, June 14: In the run-up to the 11th International Yoga Day, Patanjali Yogpeeth has launched an intensive public outreach campaign across Kurukshetra district to promote yoga as a way of life.
The campaign, guided by Yoga Rishi Swami Ramdev and organized under the aegis of the Haryana Yoga Commission and AYUSH Department, aims to make the upcoming celebration on June 21 at Brahma Sarovar a grand and historic event.
According to Patanjali Yoga Samiti’s national coordinator Bhai Rakesh Kumar ‘Bharat’, this year’s celebration is expected to witness massive participation from yoga enthusiasts across the country. The campaign has gained momentum with village-to-village and door-to-door awareness drives, even amid severe heat conditions. Volunteers are actively conducting yoga training sessions, community engagements, and inviting locals to be part of the main event.
Yoga sessions have been held in educational institutions, community centers, and public places across the district, including areas such as Pipli, Shahabad, Pehowa, Thanesar, and Ladwa. Special morning camps were organized in villages like Rodi Shahidan and Angrawali Dharamshala near Ismailabad. The focus has been on making people aware of the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga, including addiction-free and disease-free living.
Local dignitaries and Government officials, including former Union Minister Subhash Sudha, Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh, and SP Nitish Angrawali, also participated in yoga protocol sessions held at Dronacharya Stadium, showcasing administrative support for the initiative.
Patanjali teams from states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab have also joined hands, working in coordination with local volunteers. Women participation has been strongly encouraged, with special sessions led by sadhvis and female trainers in urban and rural areas, including Shahabad, Jind, and Sushant City.
Social media drives, shop-to-shop campaigns, and school outreach programs have further amplified the campaign. Senior citizens, youth groups, and local spiritual leaders are playing a vital role in motivating communities to join the event at Brahma Sarovar.
