NEW DELHI, June 25: Now passengers do not have to worry if their train is cancelled as it would be communicated to them on their mobile phones through SMS. The Railway Ministry has started this passenger-friendly measure as a pilot project, under which messages would be sent to passengers informing about cancellation of train in case the one they have booked tickets for is cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances. The SMSes would be sent to those passengers who are boarding at originating station. At a later stage, this would be extended to cover en route stations also. The SMS-based service has been commenced on all India basis, officials said. SMSes would be sent on numbers entered by passengers while purchasing or booking tickets. (PTI)
