Jammu, Apr 10: Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy, led by its Chairman Shrirang Appa Barne called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, today. The Committee is on a study visit to Jammu.
Shyamkumar Daulat Barve, Member of Parliament Lok Sabha; Javed Ali Khan, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha and Officers of Lok Sabha Secretariat, Parliament of India were present during the interaction.
A delegation of Tawi Front Morning Walkers, led by BJP spokesperson and Convenor, International Affairs, Gaurav Gupta also called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and lauded his leadership for the remarkable transformation of the Tawi riverfront.
The delegation, comprising Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Navneet Abrol, Ravikant Sharma, and Surinder Gupta, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the LG for the extensive facelift of the Tawi front, which they said had long remained neglected and underutilized.
Interacting with the LG, the members highlighted that the riverfront has undergone a visible and impactful transformation, emerging today as one of the most attractive and vibrant public spaces in Jammu. They noted that the once-abandoned stretch has now become a hub of daily activity, drawing people from different parts of the city, especially during the early morning hours.
The delegation said that the Tawi is now truly living up to its name, with a steady rise in footfall as citizens gather for morning walks, fitness activities, and to enjoy the serene natural surroundings. They particularly appreciated the scenic beautification, improved cleanliness, and enhanced infrastructure, which have collectively contributed to making the riverfront more accessible and welcoming for people of all age groups.
A special mention was made of the Tawi Aarti, which has emerged as a unique spiritual and cultural attraction. The delegation said that the initiative has added a new dimension to the riverfront, blending tradition with modern urban development and creating a peaceful and spiritually uplifting experience for visitors.
Praising the administration’s vision and execution, the members said that such initiatives not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the city but also promote community engagement, tourism, and a healthier lifestyle among residents.
They expressed hope that similar developmental and beautification projects would continue across Jammu, further strengthening its identity as a clean, vibrant, and culturally rich city.
Chandeep Singh, International Para Athlete also called on Lieutenant Governor.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated Chandeep Singh for bringing laurels to J&K by winning Gold at the 4th National Para Taekwondo Championship. He also assured all possible support and assistance for his preparation for the upcoming Asian Championship.
A public delegation from Samba led by Yash Paul Kundal, former Minister called on Lieutenant Governor
Rajinder Premi, social activist and son of freedom fighter, social reformer and litterateur Shri Sarwanand Kaul Premi called on Lieutenant Governor and projected various welfare issues of Kashmiri Pandit community.
Subsequently, a delegation of Purmandal Utterbehni Teerth Seva Nyas also called on the Lieutenant Governor.
Tarun Uppal, Chairman, Nirbhay Bharat Foundation called on Lieutenant Governor.
