JAMMU, Feb 1: All J&K Shree Guru Ravidass Sabha, under the leadership of R C Bhasin celebrated 649th Parkash Utsav of great socio-religious Sant Shree Guru Ravidass ji by organizing an impressive function at Guru Ravidass Sabha, here today.
A large number of people attended the function and paid their obeisance to the Guru. Ram Swaroop (Executive Director, NHPC) was chief guest on the occasion while Dr Zabeer Ahmed (Director, IIIM) and Romesh Angral, DIG Home Guards JKUT, were guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Ram Swaroop dwelt on egalitarian model of society as envisaged in the Bani of Shree Guru Ravidass ji. He reminded of universal brotherhood message of Gurui ji and its present relevance.
Dr Zabeer Ahmed congratulated the Sangat and whole Ravidassi Samaj of J&K on this auspicious occasion and said that the great saint was a true socio-cultural and religious reformer who in his time defeated unrealistic arguments with his knowledge and poetic orations.
Romesh Angral, while paying obeisance to Guruji, said that Sant Shrimani was the founder of Nirgun Bhakti movement in the country stressing upon casteless and just equal society. He further praised excellent work being done by the present managing committee and hoped that they will carry this good work.
R C Bhasin highlighted achievements of the Sabha managing committee and works done for uniting the Biradri.
On the occasion, supreme sacrifice of Martyr Dr Raj Kumar Thapa, then ADDC Rajouri was honoured by present “Diamond of the Society Award” (posthumously) to family members of Dr Thapa. Vijay Atri, former judge, Vijay Lochan, Des Raj Bhagat and Balbir Kumar Bali were also felicitated.
During the function many artists including Tapsya Art Group, Sonu Heer, Raju Sound system team, Savitri Bai Phule School and others presented various cultural items depicting life & mission of the great saint. Few children also threw light on teachings of Guru Ravidass.
Managing committee also announced Election Board of the Sabha to hold the elections as per its constitution. Chairman Election Board presented present status about holding elections of the Sabha. He advised that the Biradri should focus unanimous decision to elect next body to avoid further divisions in the Biradri.
Vote of thanks was extended by T C Bavouria and Prof C L Shivgotra conducted proceedings of the function.
The prominent biradri members who participated, included Vijay Lochan, Des Raj Bhagat- Ex Member PSC, Mohinder Bhagat – President Bhagat Mahasabha, B R Lachotra, Dr Rajinder Samyal, Prof Kali Dass – AIBCU, members of managing committee M R Bangotra, D D Thapa, Joginder Pal, Surjeet Heer, Kuldeep Fougi, Sham Kalsi, Tarsem Loach, Gourab Ravidasia and others.
