JAMMU, Mar 7: Param FC and Vijay FC emerged winners of pre quarter-finals matches by defeating Pt Prem Nath Dogra FC and DFA Samba with 2-1 and 1-0 goals respectively in the ongoing 26th Annual Football Championship, being played at GGM Science College Ground, here today.
The first match was played between Param FC and Pt PN Dogra FC which proved to be an exciting and a thrilling match and received great appreciation from the spectators for the ball control dribbling and man to man marking. In the first half of the match, Param FC scored through a penalty kick and dominated in the first half of the game.
Pt PN Dogra FC struggled hard to equalize the game but also got success by converting a penalty kick and levelled the game with 1-1 goal, whereas in the 2nd half of the game, the Param FC once again converted a penalty kick and registered its win by 2-1 goals over their rival.
The 2nd match was played between Vijay FC and DFA Samba XI. Both the teams exhibited quality Football.
In the 35th minutes of the 1st half of the game, the Vijay Club scored the first goal through a splendid header and won the match from DFA Samba. However, DFA Samba team tried hard to equalize the game but failed to achieve success.
Sheikh Memood (Retired SSP) was the chief guest on the occasion and introduced the players.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir Chapter of the championship, being organised at Anantnag. One match was played between DFA Kulgam XI and DFA Budgam XI, wherein DFA Budgam XI defetaed DFA Kulgam XI by 3-1 goals in the tie breaker.
The tournament is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association and sponsored by JKSC.
