BHUBANESHWAR, Oct 20: Paradip Port is set to make a major impact at the upcoming India Maritime Week (IMW) in Mumbai by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs.1.5 lakh crore across diverse sectors such as shipbuilding, ship repair, port modernization, smart port initiatives, business development, and green hydrogen projects.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, will host the event in Mumbai from October 27 to 31. Touted as the world’s largest maritime conclave, IMW will feature participation from over 100 maritime nations, 200 international experts, and 500 leading maritime industries, serving as a premier platform for investment, innovation, and global collaboration.
Paradip Port was recently notified as a Green Hydrogen Hub, becoming one of only three ports in India to earn this distinction – alongside Tuticorin and Kandla.
The Odisha Government will also participate in the conclave, showcasing its maritime potential through a dedicated session on the state’s port-led development.
The state has already signed MoUs with Paradip Port Authority (PPA) for key projects, including the Bahuda Port development and a shipbuilding centre in Kendrapara district, both expected to create substantial employment and spur regional economic growth.
During IMW 2025, Odisha is also expected to sign an MoU for developing a cruise terminal in Puri, aimed at boosting maritime tourism.
The project’s first phase will focus on Puri, while the second phase will extend the cruise terminal to Paradip within the next two to three years.
In the run-up to the event, Paradip Port has launched several public awareness initiatives – including sand art displays at Paradip Beach, along with advertisements, hoardings, podcasts, and social media campaigns, coinciding with Diwali celebrations.
These collective efforts underscore the joint commitment of the Government of Odisha, Paradip Port, and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to drive sustainable economic growth, create employment opportunities, and promote maritime awareness across the state and beyond.
