JAMMU, June 18: Seeking Ex-Servicemen status, One Rank One Pension  and highlighting others demands, All J&K Central Para Military Force Welfare Association began three-day continuous protest dharna, here today.
Retired personnel of BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, Assam Rifles, and war widows are sitting on protest dharna for One Rank One-Pension, martyr status to the soldiers killed in action or on duty, equal duty equal wages, reservation quota for wards and young widows in recruitment as well as in education, establishment of Ard Sainik Welfare Board, revision of widow pension to make it at par with male retirees, enhancement of Medical Allowance etc.
The protesters raised slogans in support of their demands and urged the Central Government to do justice by mitigating their woes. The BJP-led NDA Government is just providing lip services and doing nothing on our demands, they alleged.
While addressing the protest dharna, leaders of the Association lamented that despite performing the task next to the military, the Central Paramilitary Service has been lowered at the level of civil. We are not competing with the Defence nor lowering the civil but struggling for a separate pay, pay band and separate pay structure, they added.
The Association leaders also alleged harassment to the retirees.
Those sitting on protest dharna, included R L Dogra, Thoru Ram, Mohinder Singh, Dalip Singh, Mohammad Mazeed, Gurbachan Singh, Kaushal Singh and others.
