Par passes sports university bill

NEW DELHI: Parliament today passed a bill to establish a National Sports University in Manipur, amid protests by Congress members who trooped into the well of Rajya Sabha demanding a JPC probe into the Rafale fighter jet deal.

The National Sports University Bill, which was passed by a voice vote in the Upper House, was adopted by the Lok Sabha on August 3.

The bill seeks to set up a specialised university in Manipur, which would be the first of its kind, to promote sports education in the areas of sports sciences, sports technology, sports management and sports coaching. (AGENCIES)
